چکیده
Crimson clover (Trifolium incarnatum L. convar. Inkara) seeds were imbibed with water solution of various pH values (4, 5, 6 and 7) at ambiental temperatures (10, 15 22 °C) the aim to reveal treatments effects on seed (imbibition, germination energy, electric conductivity) seedling traits (stem, root total length). Seeds in a laboratory by standard method for germination. When averaged over inquired values, ambient temperature affected all investigated except stem length. The highest imbibition (58.8%) conductivity (82 μS/cm per gram) achieved °C. energy (70%), (68%), length (31 mm) (77 10 temperatures, (71%), (73%), (34 (78 4.

Temperature effects on soybean imbibition and leakage.
As a part of an analysis of the nature of chilling injury to seeds, measurements were made of the initial linear rates of water entry into and solute leakage out of cotyledons of soybean at various temperatures. Arrhenius plots were approximately linear for water entry into both living and dead cotyledons, with the slope (and activation energy) for entry into living cells being insignificantly ...
متن کاملTemperature regulation of germination in crimson clover seeds.
Seeds of Dixie crimson clover (Trifolium incarnatum cv. Dixie) completed germination in 36 hours at 20 C. At 10 C germination was delayed by 24 hours. At 30 C only 20% germinated and the rest remained viable for a long time but not germinable. Different patterns of adenylate energy state and zymograms of acid phosphatase and esterase were observed from seeds grown under the three temperatures f...

Genetic modification of plants by the insertion of transgenes can be a powerful experimental approach to answer basic questions about gene product function. This technology can also be used to make improved crop varieties for use in the field. To apply this powerful tool to red clover, an important forage legume, a population of red clover with a high potential for regeneration in tissue cultur...
متن کاملRed Clover (Trifolium pratense)
Brief Background: Red clover is a legume, which like soy contains "phytoestrogens" (plant-based compounds structurally similar to estradiol, capable of binding to estrogen receptors as an agonist or antagonist). Red clover was traditionally used to treat asthma, pertussis, cancer, and gout. In modern times, isoflavone extracts of red clover are most often used to treat menopausal symptoms, as a...
متن کاملEffects of water deficit and plant interaction on morphological growth parameters and yield of white clover (Trifolium repens L.) and ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.) mixtures
The effects of soil water deficit and interspecific plant interaction were studied on the dry matter (DM ) yield of white clover and ryegrass and on the morphogenesis of white clover. Plants were grown either: (1) individually (no interaction); or in a mixture of equal plant numbers with either (2) just shoot interaction, or (3) both shoot+root interaction. Plants were subjected to soil water d...
